Inaugural post and such

Hello, and welcome to Riot on the Plaza. My name is Greg, and I created this blog over a year ago to document my infatuation with music from the Kansas City area. Like so many other projects I have taken upon, it unsurprisingly went absolutely nowhere. Since then, a few respectable Lawrence-based blogs have popped up to keep tabs on what is going on over there, and, seeing as most people assume I run a music blog anyway, I (with a bit of pressure) decided to give this another shot.

A large majority of the posts here will essentially be longer, more detailed writings of what I often tweet about over at my personal account (@GregoryStitt), with links to new album pre-orders, streams, or free downloads from bands in the general Kansas City/Lawrence area. In addition to this, I plan on creating a calendar of noteworthy local events/performances… and hey, if I feel like it I may even rip some old locally released records and stream them (with the permission of the bands, of course).

Fun fact: the name of this blog is taken from a Tanka Ray song, and this space was created exactly one month prior to the incident that occurred on the Country Club Plaza in April of 2010. Guess I missed my chance to get a flood of search results.
